- John 20:1-9
- Sing together or mediate on the hymn “In Christ Alone” If you are able, print out the hymn pages for everyone with you! If you need help with the music you can find the tune played here.
- I am encouraging you praise God for the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ on this Resurrection Sunday. Here is a model prayer titled “Resurrection” in the book “Valley of Vision.”
O God of the Exodus, great was the joy of the children of Israel when Egypt died in its watery grave.
Far greater the joy when our Redeemer’s foe lay crushed in the dust. Jesus strides forth as the victor: conquerer of death, hell, and all opposing might. He bursts the bands of death, tramples the powers of darkness down, and lives forever.
He, our gracious surety, satisfied the payment of our debt. He comes forth from the prison house of the grave free and triumphant over sin, Satan, and death.
Show us here the vindication that his vicarious offering is accepted, that the claims of justice are satisfied, that the devil’s scepter is shriveled, and that his wrongful throne is leveled. Give us assurance that in Christ we died, in Him we rose, in his life we live, in his victory we triumph, in his ascension we shall be glorified.
Awesome Redeemer, You who were lifted up up on a cross are now ascended to highest heaven. You who as Man of sorrows was crowned with thorns, now are the Lord of life draped in glory. Once, no shame more deep than Yours, no agony more bitter, no death more cruel. Now, no exaltation more high, no life more glorious, no advocate more effective. You are in the triumph chariot leading captive Your enemies behind you.
What more could be done than You have done! Your life is our life, Your resurrection our peace, Your ascension our hope, Your prayers our comfort.
In Jesus Name, Amen.

Let me conclude with the lyrics of a hymn of response to the sermon: “Christ the Lord is Risen Today”
Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Earth and heaven in chorus say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!
Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids him rise, Alleluia!
Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia!
Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once he died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where’s thy victory, boasting grave? Alleluia!
Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia!
Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like him, like him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!
Hail the Lord of earth and heaven, Alleluia!
Praise to thee by both be given, Alleluia!
Thee we greet triumphant now, Alleluia!
Hail the Resurrection, thou, Alleluia!
King of glory, soul of bliss, Alleluia!
Everlasting life is this, Alleluia!
Thee to know, thy power to prove, Alleluia!
Thus to sing, and thus to love, Alleluia!
