Beautiful Words

Recently a friend of mine posted an update on their Facebook status that simply quoted John 6:39 which states “This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.” I read that verse and thought about it for several minutes. To me, those words from John 6:39 are beautiful words because it shows how different Jesus and I are. Jesus doesn’t lose anything. I lose so many things. Some things I lose are not that important like a book or a small tool or a pen. Some things are more important like my keys or my wallet.

Jesus promises in John 6:39 that he will not lose those lives and souls that have been given to Him by God. What could be more valuable than a life with an eternal soul? The words of Jesus are beautiful because if I had to depend on me to keep my life and my soul I would be in a world of trouble! Jesus can keep what is more important than every possession I have – He can keep my life and raise it up on the last day.
