Here are some worship notes for you individually or for you and your family. These are intended to go along with the sermon though you don’t need to use the notes to make sense of the the sermon. If they help you, use them to guide you in your worship of our Lord!
- If you have children who can read, you may want to have them read some of the Scripture passages themselves.
- Psalm 63
- Sing together or mediate on the hymn “My Hope is in the Lord.” If you are able, print out the hymn pages for everyone with you! If you need help with the music you can find the tune played here.
- I am encouraging you praise God for his grand plan of redemption in Christ Jesus. Here is a model prayer titled “Election” which is adapted from the book Valley of Vision.
HOLY TRINITY,
All praise to You for Your electing us to salvation by foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctification of the Spirit, and unto obedience and the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus.
We adore the wonders of Your condescending love and we marvel at the true believer’s exalted privileges. For it is within us that all heaven comes to dwell: God abiding in us and we in Him! We believe it. Help us to experience it fully.
Continue to teach us that Christ’s righteousness satisfies justice and demonstrates Your love. Help us to make use of His righteousness by faith as the ground our peace and of Your favor and acceptance so that we may always live near the cross.
We confess that it is not our feeling the Spirit that proves our salvation but the truth of what Christ did perfectly for us. All holiness in Him is by faith made ours as if we had done it. Therefore, we see the wonder of His righteousness for satisfaction of divine justice so as to make us righteous.
We confess that it is not an inner feeling that makes Christ’s death ours for our feelings are not reliable. Rather, it is His death apprehended by our faith that makes Him ours as is declared by Your Word and by Your Spirit.
We bless You for our exercises of faith, for the righteousness that is ours in Jesus, and for the grace to give our wills to You. We rejoice to think that all things are available to Your sovereign rule and we love to leave them there with You.
Because of these things our prayer turns wholly into praise. All we can do is adore and love You. We do not want the favor of humanity to lean upon. For we know that your sovereign grace is infinitely better.
In Jesus Name, Amen.

Let me conclude with the lyrics of a hymn of response to the sermon: “What Wondrous Love is This.”
What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul,
what wondrous love is this, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss
to bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul,
to bear the dreadful curse for my soul!
When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down,
when I was sinking down, sinking down;
when I was sinking down beneath God’s righteous frown,
Christ laid aside his crown for my soul, for my soul,
Christ laid aside his crown for my soul!
To God and to the Lamb, I will sing, I will sing,
to God and to the Lamb, I will sing;
to God and to the Lamb, who is the great I AM,
while millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing,
while millions join the theme, I will sing!
And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on,
and when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on;
and when from death I’m free, I’ll sing and joyful be,
and through eternity I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on,
and through eternity I’ll sing on!
